Many home improvement projects turn out to be more complicated than you expected. Remodeling your bathroom doesn’t need to follow suit. Here are some of the things you should think about when it’s time to get a bathroom remodeling project underway.
You can’t get any project started without a fair amount of planning. Part of this process involves creating a timeline and sticking to it. Delays and other snags are inevitable, but when you take them into account, you will be able to avoid getting discouraged by the fact that your remodel is taking much longer than you wanted. If you have more than one bathroom, then you’ll be fine. If not, then you should stay with a friend, neighbor, or family member who lives nearby. Important life events, such as a new baby, can also help you pin down when you want the timeline to end.
Now that that’s settled, start a list of everything else you want to include in your new-look bathroom. New tiles, new lights, bigger cabinets, walls that can move, or wider windows are within the realm of possibility. Don’t let your imagination be stifled by misconceptions of what you can and can’t get done within your estimated timeline.
However, one constraint you will have to keep in mind is your budget. Exceeding your budget will prevent you from factoring in anything you might need when it comes to special orders.
Some items, such as vanities, tubs, showerheads, and medicine cabinets might have to be custom-ordered. The waiting is the worst part, especially if you want new countertops and panes of glass to use for your shower door.
Thinking about the details can be one of the most confusing aspects of redesigning your bathroom. How many outlets do you need? What should the lights look like, and how big should they be? Do you want heated towel bars? Will you need advice from an electrician? All of these questions are essential and need answers.
